PERL Web Hosting
What is PERL?
PERL may be one of the oldest script technologies on the web, but it remains one of the most versatile and extensible technologies available to the modern webmaster. The PERL language (also known as the Practical Extraction and Report Language) was designed by programmer Larry Wall as a conglomerate of features from several other languages such as C, bash scripting, awk, sed, Lisp, several other prominent server-side scripting languages.
What can I do with it?
PERL possibly most widely known for it's use in writing Common Gateway Interface (CGI, CGI-bin) scripts such as Guest books, Blogs, and Content Management Systems, however this is just the beginning of it's capabilities. This language, amongst all else, is used as an integral part of our hosting provider which can act as a glue between all sorts of various technologies. Our Linux hosting service use mod_perl with Apache web server to communicate back and forth. PERL can even be found as a piece powering the InterWorx Cluster Panel that powers are complex network right down to the webmaster level.
