e4x JavaScript Hosting

What is e4x anyway?

E4X stands for ECMAScript (a.k.a. JavaScript) for XML – and is basically exactly what the name describes. The concept behind E4X support is basically an extension upon standard JavaScript hosting which allows the user to use a vast variety of features to act as a provider for simple and direct XML support on a basic HTML page through relatively straight-forward JavaScript. XML in turn can be utilized to interface with virtually any type of web service in any language, and support cutting edge coding methods such as AJAX, helping the user make dynamic never-refreshing web pages.

Where did e4x come from?

Although the original JavaScript (known as ECMA-262 by w3 standards) was fully accepted in 1999; it wasn’t until 2004 that the technology we’ve come to know as e4x (a.k.a. ECMA-357) became standardized on the web. This powerful tool was standardized by ECMA international, or the European Computer Manufacturers Association. Before this time, the only widespread method of accessing XML documents through the web was through using DOM interfaces; a far more complex and tedious way of producing deeply dynamic web sites.

Related web hosting services offered include:
AJAX, Javascript, PHP 4 / PHP 5, PERL, CGI
